About us

The Cubberla-Witton Catchments Network was officially launched in July 1999 with the aims of

·        facilitating communication with various local and State Government organisations;

·        enabling the collective groups to achieve catchments-wide representation when applying for funding, and

·        to facilitate strategic planning across the two catchments.

Location of Cubberla-Witton Catchments

Initial members included representatives from Waterwatch, The Hut Environment and Community Association (THECA) and all of the Habitat Brisbane bushcare groups (comprised of local residents working with Brisbane City Council) then located in the Witton and Cubberla Catchments. The Habitat Brisbane groups and other independent groups have increased and today there are 14 groups with various affiliations working in the area.

The Network’s aims are to link groups and individuals who share an interest in the health of the catchments and their waterways. The  Operating Guidelines define the Network's role and objectives as well as organisational structures and matters.

The Cubberla-Witton Catchments Network also liaises with other catchment groups, especially those in the Western suburbs, as well as with various environmental groups to encourage a participatory and holistic approach to environmental issues. Its activities are funded through the Brisbane City Council.
