Entomologist Dr Don Sands:
The Richmond Birdwing Project - Where to now?
Adult Richmond birdwing butterflies (Ornithoptera richmondia) have recently been sighted in the lower reaches of Witton Creek(!!!) on at least two occasions, and several observed caterpillars are proof that breeding is in progress in Brisbane's Inner West. Trully exciting news for the recovery of the butterfly and an enticement for us to further nurture the development and to continue to plant the native food plant Aristolochia praevenosa. Don Sands has been leading the recovery action across SE Queensland. He will give us an update, talk about the successes, and the potential for the future. Don is a very engaging speaker and will be much appreciated by everyone. He will also bring mature vines along to the meeting.
Please find below Agenda, Nomination and Proxy Forms. All office bearer positions are up for election, and we are seeking many hands to help us successfully manage our multiple activities and tasks. Your suggestions, your endorsement, your participation is needed. It's up to you to influence the further development of our organisation and the content of our work beyond its current 10th year.
Please make sure that your financial membership is up-to-date (contact Lois Eden 0407 769 569). A Membership Application/Renewal Form is attached just in case......
This is also a first little celebration of our 10th birthday. Our usual refreshments and snacks are waiting for you. A gold coin or two donation is more than welcome to help cover the costs.
See you at the AGM!
