Creek Critters

Little Gubberley Creek and its environs is home to a huge range of native critters, from the smallest microscopic aquatic beasts, to visiting owl species.

Having discovered pheasant coucals nesting in the area, we focused some of our plantings to cater for their habitat and feeding needs. By specialising on one species we were lead to see how pheasant coucals fit in the ecosystem and their place in the food web.

Dawn Muir Birdwatching

“What bird is that” with D. Muir

The Guardians of Little Gubberley annually run Open Days for the wider public with the view to inform and educate ourselves and others about our creek system. These have included

  • A walk’n’talk with Tim Low imagining the prehistoric beasts which used to roam and graze the rainforest
  • A bird walk with Dawn Muir “What bird is that?”
  • A Food for Wildlife planting with Dave Patmore– the importance of bats in pollinating the rainforest and planting local plants that are food for local critters.

Food plays a big part of our Open Days as well.
