Amongst other activities that GOLG participates in, mulching and erosion matting rate high on our priorities. The removal of grasses and other exotic plants from the soil makes room for other plants to grow. Soil likes to be covered to protect its microbeasts and stay healthy. Mulching performs this role of keeping the soil cool, moist and breaks down to add nutrients. It also inhibits the growth of weed seeds that lay dormant in the soil. Weed matting can do this job also, as well as holding the soil in place on steep banks that are being replanted. Eventually the roots of trees, lilies, ginger etc will perform this task.
Soil suffers from heat as we do.
