View towards Russell Tce and culvert area. Russell Tce in the background, blocked to all but the bravest and biggest vehicles. Logs poking out of the water in the foreground are the car park entry bollards. Trees lining the creek are witnesses to the water's force. After the water receded debris could be seen hanging in branches one meter above ground.
Storms and heavy rains caused havoc at MoorePark. Not helped by blocked culverts Witton Creek broke its banks and flooded large areas taking with it logs and lots of mulch. Fortunately fewer plants than expected by the Moore Park Bushcare Group were lost. Our constantly running but usually rather shallow creek showed us a very different face. The tunnel under the Western Freeway was also under water as was the little bridge over the tributary culvert. The downpour caused erosion in many areas.
To the left of park entry. View from Russell Terrace towards planted area at car park.
Logs and debris jammed against the rails of the wooden bridge. It was still under water a few minutes earlier.
Witton Ck near the main BBQ. Water is right up to path level.
Small culvert overtopping and flooding path and little bridge.
Creek photo taken from toilet block. Water cascades down from Taringa Parade.
Creek rages past the fenced revegetation area, partially flooding planted areas along opposite bank.
