Stinkhorns

Bridal Veil Fungus

Bridal Veil Fungus

(Phallus multicolor)

The amazing stinkhorns come in unusual shapes and forms. The spores produced by these fungi are contained in a dark slimy mass on the outside of the fungal fruiting body. They are being carried off by flies which are attracted by a strong odour of rotting meat. All examples shown here were sighted at Moore Park, Indooroopilly.
